Michael joined Schweet Linde & Coulson, PLLC after primarily focusing on representing consumer and corporate debtors. Michael brings a unique approach to creditor’s rights with his prior practice. This unique approach includes almost a decade of behind the scenes activity with debtors engaged in out of court workouts and bankruptcy filing. His understanding of the behind the scenes activities of financially distressed consumer and corporate debtors also provides a useful perspective in negotiating resolutions. Michael was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, an honor bestowed on 2.5% of lawyers under the age of 40 in Washington for both 2020 and 2021.
Michael received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Arizona State University, and earned his J.D. at Willamette University College of Law . Since being admitted to practice, Mr. Sperry’s representation has primarily focused on Creditor-Debtor work including representation of both creditors and debtors in out of court settlements, chapter 7 proceedings, chapter 11 proceedings, and chapter 13 proceedings. He has also represented creditors in Washington State litigation and receivership proceedings.
Michael is licensed in Washington State Court as well as the Federal and Bankruptcy Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He currently serves on the executive committee for the Creditor-Debtor section of the King County Bar Association as chair. Michael has presented at seminars for the both the Washington and King County Bar Associations, as well as programs through Seattle University’s College of Law on topics regarding Creditor-Debtor issues.
